Travelers Searching To Save More Money

Vacation home rental guests looking to save more money.

With the additional fees travel sites are charging guests, many rental home owners are trying to offer a lower cost alternative. Many potential visitors are just not booking vacation homes due to the high add-on fees. Owners are banding together to take back their businesses and provide a great experience for travelers without guests thinking the owners are gouging.

Many travel sites charge a pretty penny to have owners list on their site, only to turn around and start charging the travelers again. This leaves the owners hands tied to offer better deals that can affect their operating expense ratios. Owners want to provide great vacation experiences for prices that, many times, compare to hotel rooms. Not surprisingly many listing sites have referral agreements to offer hotel room packages which also leaves a seemingly conflict of interest.

Frequent travelers have noticed the increased “booking” or “service” fees mandatory and increasing. Most are not happy about it and are searching Google, Yahoo. Bing and others for alternatives. Many owners and guests are having to pay city/county/state Bed Taxes in addition to licensing and even more costly regulation. This is an obvious time of change in the vacation rental home industry.

Next article in our series is “Where is my listing?” – “It’s not showing up on the site I paid a lot of money for!” or “Why do all these unrelated properties come up when people search in my area?”
